That's What Friends are for.

Do you have friends you rarely see, but when you do it’s like you’ve never been apart? Dianna, my best friend in high school, was such a person. When we graduated, she moved to California and we saw each other once every 10 years.

She passed away when we were in our 40s, but even in death, I still feel close to her and think about here often. Like all my friends from high school, I have their images frozen in time. I can’t imagine Dianna being in her 70s just as I can’t imagine Prince Diana being 55 or Doris Day being in her 90s.

My sister Peggy and I have known Marla Cilley the Flylady for more than 30 years.

Terry and I just spent two weeks in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and it gave me time to observe people of another culture in their natural state as well as many different cultures in the resort in which we stayed. I watched French, Danish, Italian, Spanish and German groups as they enjoyed each other against a stunning backdrop of white sands and blue sea.

I didn’t really learn anything I didn’t already know. It doesn’t matter where you’re from in this world, friends make you laugh, friends accept you just the way you are, help you, support you, share with you and enjoy being with you.

When you have friends who live far away, they can appear in your thoughts with the slightest suggestion. My sister Peggy and I have known Marla Cilley the Flylady for more than 30 years and together we’ve been able to help millions of women get organized. Marla and I live far apart geographically, but she’s in my heart every day.

You thought you came to Flylady’s or my website to get organized, but you really didn’t.

I remember when she wrote Sink Reflections and a “publisher” offered to buy it. She called us because the publisher had a Vancouver address and that’s where we lived. The weirdest thing was the address had the same zip code as my home! I told Mara I’d go check out the “publishing house,” which I was pretty sure I’d never seen. The “publishing house” turned out to be one of those Postal Annex-type establishments. Needless to say, Marla learned that was NOT the publisher to go with and Sink Reflections ended up being picked up by Bantam Books not very long after that.

We celebrated the synchronicity of the whole situation and it proved to us that there is a higher plan that when we are open to it, it leads the way for the good of all concerned.

God’s love always has met and always will meet every human need and when we let go of anger, fear, greed, sadness and whatever negative emotions we can sometimes entertain, that Divine love leads us to joy and right action.

You thought you came to Flylady’s or my website to get organized, but you really didn’t. You found us because love guided you to us. Our love for you is pure. We have only one motive and that’s to help you thrive by loving who you are including your ability to make big messes and with the hope that you’ll get organized just enough to please you.

Here’s a short video of Marla and me discussing the key to being organized.
